BLOXY RANTS #2

Mechanization of Games -

WARNING: This book does cover controversial topics... don't read if you believe you are a snowflake. Also you should read RANT 1 first. (BLOXY RANT #1)

Once again I need to start with basic ratings on what I give each Warlords player in average game quality. Note these are OPINIONS. 0.1 equals its litteraly unplayable and has no purpose. 10 is the most god tier games every.
UK_Countryball: 6.5
thecoolkid26: 9.0
SenorConejo: 8.4
TheZipCreator: 9.1
UltraCraftGames: 6.8
FrenchFryFan: 6.0
dylan34481: 8.1
PL_ADI: 7.0

I think those are all the big game creators
(besides me).

Now this focusses primarily on one individual, UK_Countryball. Some people, in fact most people in warlords would see the score and probably immediately start arguing with me. Now I'm sure they all pose good points... but my purpose is what some others might see
as ridiculous and just me hating on UK... which is not completely true at all. Some people like FFF make their games hard to play and unbalanced, but those games are meant to be games... and he knows that. They aren't supposed to be good or the prize game of warlords. Ultra is the same way. His games
are rough, and generally lack cohesion or solid mechanics, but that's because his games are meant to be remembered and to share a story... even if its 12 different stories all smashed into one story. It's remembered, regardless of how bumpy the ride is.
UK has the problem where he tries... really hard. I didn't want to write this book cause especially recent months he's been slaving away at some games just to find a massive inbalance and have it all destroyed... but thats where the problems begin. UK makes great games where everything is
put in front of the player. Anything you don't know is still planned and has a reason that you don't know it. You can develop a plan to get you to the end... and as you battle away and use the systems with your favor!!!.... the game stops. Now I asked you to read the first book to
understand the problem, and UK admitted he was guilty of what is in that book. Of course, he does rebalance stuff, as seen in Masked S1 -> S2, which is good... but if was a competent host that wouldn't be a problem. Oh god oh Ffe812fuh1ndjsejkf3dwqkkkmdsmdslkwql

Sorry I'm back. UK Fanboys just attempted my murder there. But yes... I do think UK is one of the most incompetent hosts we have on warlords. Now maybe some people like dylan or FFF are even
more incompetent but because they don't host massive world-reveiling games, it isn't shown in such proud light. UK himself said he isn't a competent host, but he says it more honestly and less aggresively. He means that his games can generally become clustered and have the mechanics
that are apparently laid out become very... broad and abusable. Now I'm talking about how he deals with these mechanics. UK recently has been one of the LEADERS of the mechanization of gaming. Scarce are games like afterlife where all you have that is defined is your money and your gun.
Now we have stats for every singular atom... and it really reduces the fun for everyone. As much as I dislike UK's old abusable mechanics, if he wasn't an incompetent host he wouldn't have to worry about their widespread abusability. Instead he puts it tons of work into making a game so
defined and put out there that you can't possibly abuse it. The problem is games take forever to release... are harsh for the player to comprehend unless they dedicate hours of their life understanding, then furthermore applying those mechanics, and the game host has to make and follow
all those rules. I'm not talking about games such as DcR or TD. Those games are based off of stats and are purely stratedgy that is defined. Its actual unbiased stratedgy that is hard for the host but enjoyable for the players as they can make a perfect character
to slaughter enemies galore. I'm talking when making afterlifes so full of stats, you can't do anything said thing has already been idalized. UK takes this so far where it surpasses stradedgy games like Kingdom... where even kingdoms has some freespace to what you can and can't do and how you
do said things. The only unlisted things you can follow is what is slapped right in front of you by the host... not by the player. Now do I think that kingdoms is overly mechanized, TD and DCR were extremely heavy and stats, and multiple people including me have much more
heavily incorporated stats into my game? Yes... absolutely. But I think we don't do where its overwhelming, we do it for the better. Mechanization, just like the real world, can be used to assist games playability. However, games like Cultists can never be fully or even
lightly mechanized without ruining their central purpose... but UK still tries to. This increasing mechanization, in my heavily unpopular opinion, is heavily do solely to UK's incompetent hosting. Popular games easily influence, and if UK's style of gaming has changed to fit
his style, that style will be poorly replicated... and that's bad when warlords is in such a drought of original ideas and relies more on sequals or extended games. Now we have begun the minigame boom, which quite honestly is such a refreshing taste to warlords that I can't
express in words how thankful I am that it is here. Sadly enough... the amount of pure popularity and large scale statistics UK hosts allows people to instead improvise a hole for abuse, they work as teams, and yes I repeat, there are literal groups working on ways to statistically abuse
UK's games. It's sad, because no game should have that problem. Any game that is solely reliant on stats should definately not reveal all the stats, enemies, and materials in your face. While UK doesn't do that, he reveals everything important, especially in the more strategic games
such as galactica or masked. This makes his games less fun when to make up for his incompetent hosting he lets numbers host for him and then those numbers get abused because of the way they exist. That's the end of my ted talk because I've said everything I need to.
Personal Note to UK: Listen Man I used to love your games but now when I here "Ultra ruined the game" or "This item is too overpowered" I just sigh in dissapointment at what your hard work and brilliant creative mind could be. You are a great creator... just you need to learn
how to put that into a playable form. This book isn't a hate speech, but a warning to others... and hopefully a light to shine you in the right direct.
