Belloria by: thecoolkid26 Genre: Loria Notable: Directly began the Early Loria Boom, candidate for the most influential game in RP history Creators: thecoolkid26, SenorConejo, UltraCraftGames Released: Sometime in August-September 2018 Player Count: 26*, slightly decreased/increased over time Table of Contents Echokia...................................4 The Gathering...................7 Gameplay............................20 Impact..................................37 Chapter 1 - Echokia During (but not related to) the Early Boom and Afterlife Booms, Bloxhead7 had returned from his break from DF, that started all the way back in Kingdoms Season 1. He had a new idea in mind, a game that would fuse the concepts of grand strategy games (especially Hearts of Iron IV/HOI4) and RP games, into what he called "Echokia." The idea was ambitious, but it would somewhat work. With an intricate storyline and the implementation of revolutionary systems unseen before in RPs, Echokia had made something new for the server. However, it'd die after a few turns, and many of its flaws would be realized during and after its gameplay. Chapter 2 - The Gathering A group of three former Echokia players (who also played RPs before Echokia) would be the ones to take notice of the game. Other people would go on to not use the ideas in Echokia, nor would they make an impact on Belloria, except by playing it. These 3 players were: 1. thecoolkid26, the future plot owner of Belloria, and also the main person behind the game. He was in the RP genre since its very first game, RP Wars, and grew to enjoy the concept. After playing Echokia, he would also be the one to call for a new game due to Bloxhead7's inactivity. 2. SenorConejo is another RP player from RP Wars. He'd be responsible for sparking the rise of RPs with his game Kingdoms, which was the second game to be ever released. He also grew to enjoy Echokia's concept, but was especially critical of its flaws. He'd go on to join thecoolkid26. 3. UltraCraftGames joined RPs later than the other two, spectating Kingdoms and making games with his friend, UK_Countryball. He has slowly been becoming better friends with the former two, and by the time Echokia had ended, he would be able to join them in making the game. The three of them met. First, a plot was needed. thecoolkid26 would delete his previous RP game, Afterlife (A plot now known for popularizing the Afterlife genre and starting the Afterlife Boom) and create Belloria in its place. The name "Belloria" was a result of thecoolkid26 and SenorConejo brainstorming a name. After figuring out that "war" in Latin was "bellum," thecoolkid26 was able to spin the word into the game's name, Belloria. What followed was a concerted and focused effort on making Belloria. It was to be made carefully with the primary objective of fixing Echokia's prior flaws, while still making for a good and enjoyable game. SenorConejo would assume control of building much of the physical map, part of the borders, the natural landscape (which only was rivers and mountains), contributed to history, and neatified things due to his perfectionist ambition, which helped organize Belloria. UltraCraftGames was known as the "mechanics guy" (he used to spell it as "mechanichs" back then), responsible for making many of the systems that Belloria would operate under. While thecoolkid26 would make the ground army's war system, UltraCraftGames made the majority of the systems, including buildings, rules, war systems for naval and air combat, and more minor additions. SenorConejo did his part in perfectioning Ultra's work, such as making a nuke research system, but Ultra's influence remained clear. thecoolkid26 himself would oversee the other two, contribute to some of the things they did, and made the history of the lands, with SenorConejo's perfectioning and help. He'd make the borders of the nations, partially put the cities down, placed the other buildings, and would go on to host the plot itself. The trio, after a long effort (roughly a few weeks) had made a game that Bloxhead7 couldn't when he was alone. For its time, Belloria was a magnum opus, and it would soon receive its recognition. Chapter 3 - Gameplay One of the biggest delays toward Belloria's release was gathering players. In a process as lengthy as making the game itself, Belloria was advertised many times to the server in order to gather people. What followed would be a lengthy explanation, perfected over time, done mainly by thecoolkid26. While some would just leave, and others would see the game as stupid for not being coded, many people took interest to the game, and slowly, the player board filled with countries being occupied by various players. thecoolkid26 would brief them and advise them on what to do prior to the game's start, and finally, Belloria would begin. With anywhere from 10-20 players by the time of its release, and slowly trickling up to the roughly 26 it had by the time of its death, Belloria was suprisingly well-hosted, at the price of the game going by at an extremely slow pace. A world war would break out, spanning every continent in one way or another, except for one which chose to have a war against itself. The Great War, and the Great Kovelian War were both the main focus of Belloria for its entire existence. For some players, it was a peaceful gameplay, and some would even lose. OGPlatypus, ruler of the Republic of Apren, would surrender to the Kingdom of Casotho, led by Enderkool, after losing a major battle. __Mobhunter__, the ruler of Izmir, saw their puppet state, Xusta, get taken over by Cascar (UK_Countryball) and subsequently surrender after both UK_Countryball and Athia (thecoolkid26) prepared an invasion of Izmir. On that note, it was still controversial at the time whether a host should play their own game. Today, that is generally not accepted, but back then, it was still debatable. The controversy of whether thecoolkid26 should play his own nation would be one of the many controversies that affected Belloria and caused its demise. Notably, in the central continent of Dugon, Modogovia (dylan34481) was invading Kovryia (UltraCraftGames), an invasion which started the Great War to begin with. In a massive battle, Modogovia had beaten Kovryia in a close victory, obliterating both of their armies. However, Gavusal (SenorConejo) would go to Modogovia's aid, sending their massive army to the border, and putting Kovryia in a hopeless situation. This led to massive controversy. The two would constantly argue, with dylan34481 in the middle. Things got worse when IAmAGreatBuilder (Rend), an ally of Kovryia, joined the game. He'd use his brothers account (WizardPros) to rule Modalia, another Kovryian-alligned state that had no ruler before, and further support Ultra. In the entire span of Belloria's existence, WizardPros scored the only victory that Kovryia and their communist allies would gain in the entire war. In the Battle of Modai Bay, the Gavusalian navy was obliterated by a numerically superior force, breaking a naval blockade on Modalia. In a massive Rend-Modalian invasion of Gavusal, IAmAGreatBuilder was accused of several accounts of secretly changing his army by SenorConejo. thecoolkid26 was suspicious, and UK_Countryball at the time even claimed to have seen UltraCraftGames adding some planes to the Modalian ranks. However, these claims were never proven, and nobody was punished. When IAmAGreatBuilder was found using an alt account to rule Modalia, he was forced to give up one of his two countries. He chose to give up Rend, and tried to make Modalia a monarchist state, allied with Gavusal. The two immediately clashed, and Modalia split in half, as the rest of the communist government seceded from his monarchist ideals. Kovryia would give heavy support to the communist side, but the writing was on the wall for their cause. However, it wasn't like Belloria was having the greatest of times. The constant arguing caused turns to be seriously delayed, and at one point, damaged friendships, when in one instance, thecoolkid26 stopped talking to SenorConejo for several days. Belloria would ultimately fall from its slow turns, and due to every battle being met with controversy and debate. Chapter 4 - Impact Belloria was a success in its very first turn or two of existing. While it would later have many controversies, some of which weren't even included to keep this book short, many of its other players would take the ideas and make it their own. Such players were praised by thecoolkid26 and SenorConejo, among others. Notable players include: UK_Countryball, who created a plot called Pokelandia, adopting the Loria style of gameplay into a Pokemon-type game. This game would be the beginning of a massive boom of Belloria inspired games known as the Early/Late Loria Booms. SludsXD was a minor figure in Belloria, but would later go on to start the Civilizations Boom, the second largest boom in RP history and the last one before the Dark Ages. tylerz_world, who previously had made the last game of the Early Boom, his Dungeon Game which inspired Afterlife. dylan34481, who would make the first joke game (epicloria), and then his major project Fuhrerreich, which in turn led to the creation of the Warlords server. OGPlatypus104 would be a major contributor to the Civilizations Boom. Many future Warlords players, such as TheZipCreator and Bloxhead7 (toward the end of Belloria) The efforts of some of these players, alongside many others, culminated into the Loria Booms. This time period would be known as the high point of DF RPs, and the peak of their popularity. Belloria was able to successfully make a massive legacy, one that was initially unintended, as it was just meant to be a good successor to Echokia. Even then, it was probably noticable that such a game would leave an impact. The efforts of the trio that made Belloria possible cannot be underestimated, as they made the game possible. Bloxhead7 cannot be forgotten either, as he made the idea exist in the first place. Finally, of course, the community itself made the Loria Boom a thing to begin with. A lot of Belloria still remains controversial today, especially on who should get credited for the Loria Boom, and who should be credited more. Whatever your stance on that is, is up to you. Try to be civilized if you ever discuss it, unlike what the Bellorian players did.
