??? (Game was never given a name) by: thecoolkid26 Genre: Loria Notable: First game outside of both DF and Warlords, first game hosted on a survival game Creator: thecoolkid26 Released: Mid-2019 Player Count: 2 Table of Contents Datearth................................4 Development.......................8 Legacy.................................15 Chapter 1 - Datearth Datearth is a towny like survival server that takes place in a semi-realistic world map. Players have to play the game across the world similarly to a survival, but can make towns in order to protect their land and then expand themselves to a nation, which can colonize several towns at once. The game grew to have a massive following, at times having over 100 players online at a time. Among these players was dylan34481, also the owner of the RP server, Warlords. He'd tell Warlords players to get on the server so that they can help him form a new town, called Port au Prince (later renamed by the server admins to Gonaives, a city in Haiti) Soon enough, a nation called the Golden Circle was born out of Gonaives, and it would encompass many towns. At one point, Venice had collapsed due to a lack of income, and the Golden Circle would colonize it, with thecoolkid26 being its mayor. Chapter 2 - Development After Venice was colonized and renamed to Port d'Illyria, thecoolkid26 had managed to make the town among the largest in the Golden Circle. At this point, he and others had made some friends on Datearth, and thecoolkid26 had come up with an interesting idea - introducing them to RPs. While they were able to see Warlords, TCK's idea was to make an RP on Datearth to show them how it worked. There were several obstacles - First of all, everybody was in survival mode, so getting blocks had to be done manually, and heads could not be obtained. Venice was full of spare building blocks, so it wasn't problematic to obtain these blocks, although it took a while to set the game itself up without World Edit. As for heads, thecoolkid26 instead opted to base the game off of a simplified version of Fidese - a game by Bloxhead7 on Warlords that involved using signs instead of heads to display soldiers. And thecoolkid26 had plenty of wood for signs. So, a prototype game was made, where one side was magenta concrete powder, and the other one was purple concrete. The same units from Fidese were used (infantry, cavalry, artillery) and it was made for two players to play. dylan34481 would play on one side, and Laestrygon98, one of the players from Datearth, would oppose him. Ultimately, the battle proved to be inconclusive, as it was never finished, but it received the attention of a server admin who overheard the discussion and came by to spectate. Others were informed of it as well. However, a second round would never come. Chapter 3 - Legacy Although insignificant, this game was the first ever attempt at branching outside of the traditional two servers. While it wasn't intended to spread RPs across Datearth (Later games were planned to do so, but they would never come) it did prove that even without Worldedit or even creative mode, experimental RPs were possible. And while Laestrygon98 would not be interested in RPs (He would be introduced to Warlords, but he'd never actively play) it is possible that on other servers, where other forms of RPs that have existed long before DF RPs (such as those roleplays where you play a character in say, a camp and talk to other people, no hosting needed) such as creative servers can see RPs being introduced. However, such concepts are, as of the publishing of this book, unpopular and for the time being are not being actively pursued. This game does pose an interesting question, though - Can and should RPs be introduced to other servers?
