Dweller Games by: thecoolkid26 Genre: Afterlife Notable: First organized community of games, precursor to Masked Creators: Various game makers Founder: TheZipCreator Released: 2019 Player Count: Varied, 1-3 per game Table of Contents Founding................................3 Growth/Usage...................8 Legacy.................................13 Chapter 1 - Founding Sometime in 2019, TheZipCreator had come up with a new idea. There was a lack of dungeon games in Warlords by this time, and also a good opportunity for new ideas to flourish. These two would be combined to form his new concept - Dweller. The entire idea was to form a community of games, all unified under one "Constitution" of ground rules for each game. For example, there was a set list of mobs, a merchant, and a way to create dungeon rooms. Using solely the rules defined by the Constitution, alongside the heads provided by Zip himself, gave the game creator a basic dungeon game that they can work off of. The player can then make their own additional set of rules, and differantiate their game from the others by adding things such as new mobs, rooms, and even concepts to make their dungeon game significant. The idea wasn't hard to make - After the constitution was done, and dozens of heads compiled with stats for some of them, TheZipCreator had formed his new idea. He then made a basic stone brick room, that would serve as the starting point for each game. Shortly afterwards, he'd release the Constitution and the area itself to the public, letting other players begin making their dungeons. Chapter 2 - Growth/Usage Almost immediately after its release, people had come to make their own games, and Zip had made the community that Dweller was made for. Players made their own amendments, contributions, and games, which were usually played by other players whom were interested. Most would not be played for long, but some, such as Ultra's unnamed dungeon, would receive significant amounts of gameplay before stopping. Chapter 3 - The Decline Most games on dweller died out from a lack of interest by the hosts to host it, and players from the server soon began abandoning the brand new concept. Some did stay, and among these last games was "piece of shit balrogs" by thecoolkid26. This game was a joke one, involving balrogs (fiery creatures) that posed as obstacles in every room, stopping you from advancing. More importantly, however, is that it had abandoned the Constitution. While "piece of shit balrogs" did not go far beyond its gameplay, this separation is one that would be seen on a much, much greater scale soon afterwards. Chapter 4 - Legacy Dweller was on the verge of fading into obscurity, however, one player had not only kept on making games, but kept on receiving attention from people whom played his games - UK_Countryball. UK had been, among other things, a dungeon RP player, and one who has made dungeon games in the past. Dweller to him was an amazing concept, and he had loved making games on it more than the rest. He'd constantly make versions of his own games on it, adding changes to the amendments and making some large changes to the old system, starting with things as simple as removing the starting room, then to things such as removing the barriers between rooms, and ultimately with removing the Constitution itself. It had its own board, and stats system, weaponry, and more. Some began to question: Why was it not its own game at this point? Eventually, UK_Countryball decided to move the game out of Dweller, and would go on to refit the series to the game we now know as Masked. It is also when Masked left Dweller that it could be definitively said that the community had died. While it didn't last, Dweller remains today as one of the many creative ideas that have come and went over the months.
