Now, RP games had gained some sort of moderate popularity in the server, following the Early Boom, and Afterlife Boom. People were starting to get aware of this new genre, the idea that a game on DiamondFire can be.. not coded? It went against the ideals of the entire server, and to many, it would only make them interested in the genre. Developmental Games like Kingdoms took up too much space to have for large amounts of players, and Afterlife games already shot their shot in the Afterlife Boom. As successful as it was, there was potential for something... greater. Bloxhead7 would provide the solution - Basing the storyline off of a school project he made, and basing the actual gameplay from Hearts of Iron IV (HOI4, military strategy game outside of MC) came a game called Echokia. It was an idea that hadn't been properly attempted before in the slightest, and similarly to RP Wars and the Proto-Afterlife games of the Early Boom, it served as a proof of concept. That such an idea was possible. The small amount of gameplay that Echokia saw was valuable testing that the idea had merit. By the time that Bloxhead7 went inactive, and all that Echokia had left was to be pronounced dead, several RP players joined together. They had an idea - Taking the ideas of Echokia, and making it their own game, fixing all of its problems and making something new. Chapter 2 - Belloria/Spark This new game, called Belloria (Bellum in Latin means war, which is where the name came from) would have three important creators. thecoolkid26 (TCK) would be the plot's owner, and the start of the idea. He'd be responsible for making much of the borders of countries, and do most/all of the history, and hosting. UltraCraftGames (Ultra) made the mechanics of Belloria, with the assistance of the others. He became an important figure in making some of the systems that are still seen in Loria games today. SenorConejo (Senor) would make the physical map of Belloria, and help the other two in their plans. He made a potential research board, helped make everything organized, and contributed his ideas when they were crucially needed. It'd be these three individuals, alongside Bloxhead7 himself, which should be credited for the Boom that came to follow. How much credit you give each of them is up to you. Belloria was made carefully, and while today, it can definitely be recognized as a flawed game, for its time it was an innovation that stood unmatched. Using Echokia as a basis, it was able to go into the uncharted waters of the Loria subgenre and be an effective game that simply worked. While Belloria would be cut short, just like Echokia, due to constant arguments and a lack of progress leading to thecoolkid26 slowly abandoning it, it attracted the attention of many. Unlike Echokia, however, these players saw the ideas, and realized that this system could be branched into a cool new idea they had. The creators of Belloria unanimously supported the expansion of the genre, and, the spark became an explosion. Chapter 3 - The Explosion And it was quite the explosion. Today, Pokelandia by UK_Countryball is credited as being the first Loria game after Belloria, and thus, the beginning of the Early Loria Boom. Pokelandia was a simple version of the Loria games, which combined the concepts of Belloria with Pokemon to create a simple, yet fun game. Pokelandia would later be notable for being remade by Monty6 as Pokeloria, the last DF RP recorded as of the writing of this book. (10/29/19) Such adaptations would be done by others, whether it'd be a simple version of Belloria, or another game being used as a basis. Epicloria would be the first game that dylan34481 would make and complete, which was just a joke version of Belloria. It should be noted that many of the games following Belloria would adopt the -loria suffix, hence where the genre's name comes from. So many players had made games, and so many more would play them, that the entire server had taken notice. This was legendary. Chapter 4 - During the Boom The Early Loria Boom would be the largest boom in DF RP history preceding the Dark Ages, and one that put the entire server watching RPs. Many who previously hadn't heard of RPs would take an interest in them, and for some, it would be positive. Players like SludsXD played games like Belloria or others, and take inspiration from them, and using their popularity, were able to make games of their own that'd leave an impact. For others, the response was negative. Initially, the issue was about how these games were low-effort and excessively popular, but the argument would slowly shift over time. By the Late Loria Boom, much of the opposition would claim that RP games were extremely easy to make, and took attention away from the high-effort coded games, a viewpoint that would be resisted by RP supporters, but would slowly wittle away at their players. For the server itself, little would change, as the server didn't typically change with new trends. However, by this point, thecoolkid26 made a thread on making "Roleplay" games a category on DF. Much later, this would become a reality. Whether the forum suggestion played a role or not is unknown. Chapter 5 - The Decline The exponential growth of RP games was slowly curving toward stagnation, as less players were making games, although the community was still there. Opposition to RP games somewhat grew, and while RP games were still flourishing, this would be the earliest indicator of the future Dark Ages. This opposition, initially small, would grow to being a major contributing factor in the death of DF RPs. At an undefined point, RP games would stop growing, and in what is now known as the Late Loria Boom, would begin to decline until its death. Unfortunately, little could be done to stop this, and it may have been impossible to stop its fall. Chapter 6 - Legacy The Early Loria Boom was, to say the least, the high point of RPs, not just in popularity, but in enjoyment. Being able to play with so many players, and seeing such a high flow of ideas was something that RPs had never seen before, and, unfortunately, would never see again. It is unfortunate that some people were not there to see the heights of the boom, such as Bloxhead7, who had taken a break from RPs during the span of the Early Loria Boom and much of the Late Loria Boom. A lot of our ideas today come from this time period, and much of future 'philosophies' of RPs would be based off of it. The concepts of Loria games led to dylan34481's wish to make his most ambitious project yet, one that was an alternate scenario of the Axis Powers winning WW2, known as Fuhrerreich. It wasn't exactly known then, but this was the spark for the homeland of RPs today, Warlords. The Late Loria Boom still saw some dedicated creators, and the boom would be responsible for many of the minor games that would occur during the Dark Ages of DF RPs. Finally, the Early Loria Boom saw the inspiration of creators like SludsXD, who would later go on to be central parts of the Civilizations Boom, or the finale before the Dark Ages. In essence, the Early Loria Boom was singlehandedly the largest, and possibly most important event in RP history, depending on how you define 'important.' It is also the only time where RPs became server-wide, and were also largely accepted by the DF community. All subsequent booms and Dark Age RPs would be plagued by the flaming of other players. This Boom was definitely a time to be in, and yet, today, its influence remains all but gone on DiamondFire. On Warlords, though? We get to experience its effects simply by being here. By looking at any game that involves countries, or by looking at all the ideas that players have come up since. We're here because of the events that occured over a year ago, and we should be grateful.
