Chapter 1 -

Birth of RPs

The story of RPs began with an idea by Kcolyz executed by TheLoyalHorse. The project was new, and never seen before on DiamondFire. This 'experiment', among other words used to describe it,
was known as RP Wars.

The plot saw much success, with many players joining. However, two of them, thecoolkid26 and SenorConejo, would stand out in especially liking the concept. thecoolkid26 personally enjoyed the concept a lot, and at the time, saw it
as something that needed to expand. However, as the Early Dark Ages of RPs came about, he would only pursue one project - the creation of an RP Wars 2, with Bloxhead7 and dylan34481, which ultimately failed whilst being made.
The Early Dark Ages were a short period where RPs were destined to be doomed from the start. Nobody after RP Wars 2 attempted to make any RP, as essentially under 10 people on the server were aware of the genre, and very few of these players would
express significant enough interest in RPs to make one of their own. For a while, it seemed like RPs would be a concept to be long forgotten. However, today, we know this as the beginning of RPs. What happened?

One player stood up.
Chapter 2 -

The Savior

SenorConejo was, as stated before, simply another player of RP Wars. However, unlike others, he had both the interest in the concept and the rank for plots, the spare time, and the determination to make
another RP game. At the time, nobody else on the server had all of these traits when it came to RP games.

Thus, he got a large (101x101) sized plot on DiamondFire, and got to work immediately.
Kingdoms was many things, but it was by no means original in its basic concepts. The entire game was an extension of RP Wars. At the time, it seemed like an adaptation of RP Wars that was made with what Senor believed should've been improved when it was a game.
The game's purpose and objective was all the same - In a medieval time period, you start your own kingdom from scratch and attempt to conquer as much as you can, with the game most likely set to end when a player conquered the entire world.
Cities, troops, scouts, builders, and the buildings were mostly adapted, with Senor's personal changing of the blocks and other additions that he'd add over time.

However, some changes that were, at the time, revolutionary would also be made.
RP Wars, for example, had lacked a proper unit system. While basic units such as scouts were defined, there was plenty to be asked for. SenorConejo combatted this by implementing more units (archers, spearmen, tribe-specific soldiers, among
others) and giving them all specific amounts of movement speeds. Kingdoms would not be the ones to develop a sophisticated combat system - such things were not seen as necessary at the time - but would be the first steps to one's creation.
Kingdoms would as well, unlike RP Wars, have an informal biome system (which would be formalized and written in Season 2) and have a greater diversity of biomes. Whereas everybody in RP Wars started in either a desert or prairie, each of the four corners and four kingdoms had
their own biomes.

These were the:
Grasslands (Prairie)
Desert
Mesa
Tundra

Additionally, the advent of giving tribes dialogue and increased depth was a personal improvement
done to hosting. While RP Wars had the first AI (random tribes), Kingdoms would be the first to see complex relations between such tribes, dialogue, AND the first alliances in RP history.

Today, some changes may be viewed with controversy, and the lack of additions
seen as a display of a lack of effort on Senor's end. For example, Season 1 did not see the fixing of the open ended research system RP Wars had - You simply researched anything the host deemed realistic - and it would not be until Season 2 when a research tree was implemented.
Another issue brought up was how some biomes (Namely, the desert and tundra) had a significant disadvantage as opposed to the mesa and grassland. It should be noted that this was the second RP in existence - for its time, this plot was great, and it cannot be disputed that
it was a direct improvement from RP Wars.

Once everything was set, SenorConejo was ready. He would release Kingdoms in some unknown date, and the book of RP history would finally continue.
Chapter 3 -

Early Gameplay

There were four players. Four kingdoms. Shortly after release, each of these four kingdoms had a king with a name.
While some of the details are lost from SenorConejo's memory, there is some information that we know for certain.

SenorConejo played Desertia and was the only ruler of it. Desertia was, of course, within the desert biome.
Desertia would see little growth for most of the game, giving Senor a first hand account of the disadvantages deserts had.

abigzebrafish would rule the prairie, with a kingdom known as Aralia. He'd rule it for a short period of time.
While the rest of this is not certain, SenorConejo's account of the events reveal that:

NoHaxJustPi was the early ruler of the Tundra biome, and did not name his kingdom.

TheZipCreator would rule the Plateau biome, and like NoHax, would
not name his kingdom. Zip would later be a player of Warlords, making him the earliest Warlord player to play Kingdoms.

The first few turns were all roughly the same, with players making outposts and chopping trees. However, in terms of
leadership, things were more chaotic. Three of the four original rulers would go inactive or quit, leaving Senor as the only ruler to play Kingdoms S1 from start to end, whilst hosting it at the same time.
The Tundra and Prairie, however, saw permanent rulers. thecoolkid26 would rule Aralia, later renamed to Avalonia, until the end of Season 1, and surrenderfire would rule the Tundra, and later name it Vacce (latin for Cow),
and Bloxhead7 would take over the Plateau, and form a new state with it's name being Persiac. This name was directly based off of the nation of Persia. However, later on, Bloxhead7 would change the nation's name to Bulliac after a major event that occurred.
Even if some were replaced, these would be the four commonly recognized rulers of the corners in S1. While most of the Plateau's history would not see Bloxhead7's rule after he took a huge hiatus from DF, however he is credited for most of its
growth and expansion, and was present for many of its major events.

The early gameplay saw growth in three of the four corners. Aralia and Persiac both grew at a steady pace, and surrenderfire would face limited growth
from a lack of trees until he found a nearby taiga - subsequently, he was able to catch up to the others. SenorConejo, however, would 'discover' a mountain range and an ocean surrounding him on all sides, giving him a limited amount of wood from the small
stretch of mesa that he found, and the rest of his area being pure desert. He'd spend most of Kingdoms creating the Steel Gate, the longest bridge ever created in any Kingdoms game to date. As he only had stone, he'd make this massive stone bridge until he finally
found the Savannah. It is worth noting that SenorConejo, also being the host, of course imposed this on himself, and this may have been a method of reducing his ability to influence the game and mitigate host bias.
Vacce would receive its name by this point, and Aralia discovered the swamplands. thecoolkid26 was able to quickly explore all of it in the matter of a few turns, and discover the ocean. Aralia and Persiac were the main competitors
of winning Kingdoms. While it was, of course, too early to tell (All four players were extremely far from meeting each other) the two were growing the fastest among any other.

Blox's inactivity, however, would eventually culminate into a hiatus that
saw him out of action for most of the season. Before this, however, two major wars had broken out.

The First Wolo War was a conflict fought between Aralia (thecoolkid26) and an NPC Wolo tribe. After an encounter in the swampland turned bloody,
and Aralia accusing the Wolo tribe of instigating it, the Aralian army assembled and pushed through the swampland. After winning two swift victories, the only Wolo city fell and the tribe would be a part of Aralia for the rest of the season. The name Avalonia would
be adopted around this point.

The Bulliac War

A war that started and never saw an end, a massive native force of an unknown tribe crossed the mesa and began approaching Bloxhead7's original city and technical
capital. Bloxhead7 was known to be more of a city-builder than a strategiest - Across the river from this city, a glorious city bordering a mountain range known as the "Alps" had become the largest in the game. However, he did very little to stop the invading force.
As soon as the tribesmen approached, a swift battle began. Possibly as many as 10 native soldiers combatted with only two knights and a builder (who threw a piece of meat) defending the capital. It was overran, and the tribesmen were on their way to the practically
undefended city in the Alps. The only reason Persiac survived was because Bloxhead7 had built a bridge out of wood instead of stone to cross the river. As the tribesmen poured across, the bridge collapsed, killing about as many natives as Blox was able to kill with his entire army.
The native force sacked and destroyed the capital city, and left, barely sparing Bulliac. It was at this very moment when the kingdom had adopted its name. For the rest of the season, Bulliac would never have another direct confrontation with the tribe again, although the two armies had
scouted each other much later on in the game. The Alps shielded the remaining city from the tribe, and once it was fortified with soldiers, archers, and even catapults, it seemed impenetrable. thecoolkid26, however, in an analysis, had concluded that it was still possible
for the tribe to attack in a direction other than the Alps and possibly score a victory.

After this defeat, Bloxhead7 would enter his hiatus, and what ensued was a series of semi-effective rulers, some better than others, but none quite as effective
as Bloxhead7 had been in city-making. However, these players were usually better with military strategy, and were the same ones whom fortified the Alps.

Vacce had also grown in size significantly, but surrenderfire too would see periods of inactivity.
There was one individual who had been introduced to Kingdoms by SenorConejo, without any prior RP experience. They had met on an escapist game, and the player was soon given the chance to play as Vacce temporarily, as surrenderfire was not online.
At the time, Vacce was at war with a native tribe, and surrenderfire suffered a stunning defeat at the hands of the tribe that put them on the brink of defeat. This new member immediately formed a force of spearmen, archers, and more, and in a battle that was
initially called the Battle of Spearmen, he had won a decisive victory and destroyed the native force. This player, PL_ADI, had saved Vacce to the surprise of everybody except for surrenderfire himself, who criticized him for his 'high casualty count' and instead got angered at him.
