Chapter 4

Mid-Game

The Mid-Game of Kingdoms can be said to have started after the end of Vacce's war with the tribe in the Taiga. The end of this war marked a period where Vacce and Avalonia were the two primary military
powers, while Bullania and Desertia fell behind and would go on to attempt to be the strongest of them all.

Avalonia would meet a tribal kingdom by the name of Wolotia. Unlike the other "Wolo" tribe, Wolotia was much more friendly, and over time, the two
developed an alliance. Avalonia would also be developing in cities.

Meanwhile, Vacce would expand significantly into a mysterious biome known as the Mushland biome. The only fictional biome in S1, the mushrooms and water here could be used for alchemy.
As RP Wars 1 was fully realistic in its natural/physical elements, this makes the Mushland the first instance of anything fictional occuring in RPs, and the oldest fictional place in RP history.

surrenderfire would establish a city in the middle of it, and
later on, as PL_ADI would be forced back to spectating Kingdoms, would be able to successfully negotiate to rule over the city in the Mushland as long as he remained a puppet of surrenderfire's. PL_ADI's puppet kingdom would be called: Mushea.
Bullania would explore beyond the Alps, and discover a prairie and a new biome - the Mediterranean biome, which essentially is a coastal-like biome. The description was odd, and SenorConejo later admitted to the biome simply being a 'placeholder' as he had no idea on what to make the biome in the
area. This Mediterranean biome was home to the tribe that destroyed Persiac, but no engagements would be made for the entire season. However, the prairie was colonized by Bloxhead7's successors, and at one point two people split the rule over Bulliac into two -
One player controlled Bulliac and the Alps, while another controlled most of the prairie that Bulliac discovered. This was the only point where Kingdoms S1 had 6 players - Avalonia, Desertia, Vacce and their puppet Mushea, and now the dual rule of Bulliac.
The dual rule was gone as suddenly as it started, with inactivity leading to just one player managing the entire kingdom.

Avalonia, meanwhile, had heard of the Wulu tribe - a tribe that had split from the Wolos and Wolotia before, and
posed a threat. They bordered both Wolotia and the Wolo tribe that Avalonia had annexed before. thecoolkid26 made a hasty attempt to attack, and thus began the Second Wolo War. In what was his only defeat in battle, almost all of thecoolkid26's army was obliterated, and
only two archers escaped to tell the nation what had occurred. thecoolkid26's next dozen turns would be dedicated to preparing a much better force, now slightly knowing his enemy. The Second Wolo War would go on to be the largest war in Kingdoms history,
and to date, no war has beaten it.

The game would continue to progress, with players making some technological innovations, the most important of which would be metalworking for advanced weaponry, and ships to sail the seas.
No major events would happen for a while now, as players simply built up and Desertia continued with the Steel Gate.

The difference between Mid-Game and Late-Game came with two major events, one in Avalonia and one in Desertia.
For Desertia, this was the discovery of the Savanna biome. Finally, Desertia could get a source of wood. They'd dedicate all of their resources to colonizing the biome, and slowly became successful. By the late game, they'd have a city in the area, and horses - the only kingdom in S1
to domesticate horses (no kingdom in S2 ever did).

For Avalonia, the long anticipated battle had finally begun. SenorConejo was already begging for thecoolkid26 to finally enter the battle, as he had spent an excessively long amount of time
preparing.

The force numbered around 40 soldiers on the Avalonian end, including possibly 8 soldiers from the Wolotian force. A slightly even amount of archers, spearmen, and knights would form the rest of the army.
He'd also be able to climb certain portions of the valley without researching the Climbing upgrade.

SenorConejo and PL_ADI had been forming ideas for research together (this is why PL_ADI is considered to be an assistant to S1's development)
and among these was the Climbing upgrade. This led to a dispute between them and thecoolkid26 on whether he'd need Climbing in order to climb past the valley. thecoolkid26 argued that Bulliac did not need climbing to climb the Alps, so why did he need climbing to go past a simple
mountain that made the valley?

thecoolkid26 would win the dispute, and with that, the scene was set.

Archers would be mounted on the sides of the valley, and a massive force would go into the heart of the valley, where the
Wulu tribe was located.
The enemy forces were revealed - A numerically identical force of Wulus, with several layers of walls and fortifications, mostly armed with spears, lay in front of them.
The Wulus had a small numerical advantage, but their greatest advantage would be both the defenses and the superior technology that led to the shields being used by Avalonian knights being almost futile. Their wooden-based shields were shredded by bronze spears.
This became quickly evident, and Avalonia had advanced across half the valley that was undefended, but had gained more casualties than the Wulus had. From the perspective of the Avalonians, the right flank would be the most important.
For one of the Wulu cities was located behind the first line of walls, and in it was a force that opposed the right flank. By this point, a player (possibly PL_ADI) noted that thecoolkid26 could've gone behind the valley, and taken the capital which was located on the back
of the battlefield with no resistance. thecoolkid26 refused to do this, stating that he didn't need to.

It would be one single archer that changed the tide of battle. Originally placed on a valley to shoot Wulu soldiers from afar, he'd advance and
join the right flank in attacking the enemy city. Virtually all casualties on this encounter were due to the archer's shooting, and the city was put under pressure as the line collapsed. The archer went forward, and made a simple demand - Surrender, or die.
Noticing that the rest of the Wulu force was not in a position to reinforce them, the city, which had no soldiers left and only had its walls defending it, surrendered. Not only did this mean that one of the Wulu cities was now under Avalonian hands, but it also meant that the
Wulu line was at risk of being breached.

With that said, however, the right flank had sustained numerous casualties, and the centre and left flank both were not doing so well on the Avalonian end. When the last knights were dying, thecoolkid26 made a
last ditch order. He ordered for a "death charge", or in other words, charging every single soldier forward to directly breach the fortifications and shoot the enemy dead.

Suprisingly, this worked. The Wulu force was too stretched out to effectively
deal with the death charge, and their distance was the only reason they had been able to be so successful. After the first line was fully in Avalonian hands, the Wulu chief stepped forward to the battlefield and surrendered.
Casualties were moderate on both sides, and the battle was the greatest victory Avalonia would ever have. Revenge had finally been met.

Wolotia would be able to influence the religion of the now occupied Wulu tribes, that Avalonia claimed for themselves.
What ensued was a campaign to convert the tribe to Piganism (the Avalonian religion) and the Wolotian religion, with the ultimate goal of erasing the Wulu culture. This would not be completed by the time Kingdoms had ended.
After the Second Wolo War finally ended, thecoolkid26 turned his attention to an island that had been recently discovered, and was inhabited by a tribe that had captured his scouts and builders that were exploring the island.
This island was a big deal geographically, because it brought Avalonia much closer to Vacce.

Not only did this tribe enter a hostile interaction with Avalonia, it had also colonized the Mushland, and after an encounter with Mushea, saw
one of their natives captured. By this point, Mushea was able to negotiate for its total independence from Vacce, and as Vacce and Avalonia's competition became hostile and they finally learnt of each others existence, the two began to oppose each other.
Chapter 5 -

Late Game

Desertia saw a massive expansion within the Savannah, with horseback only further accelerating it. Interactions with a tribe in the area, alongside the stockpile of resources they had
built up, and the advent of paths all combined, led to one of Desertia's last turns granting them THREE cities. In one single turn. thecoolkid26 called this hosting bias, but nothing came out of it.

Bullania stagnated. Nothing interesting came out of it since,
and that long awaited encounter with the enemy tribe simply never happened.

Both of these kingdoms saw S1 end in that position. Desertia was the fastest growing kingdom after dozens of turns of building a bridge, and Bullania becoming nothing
more than a shadow of what it could've been.

As for the rest? Tensions were building up. thecoolkid26 devised a 3-scenario operation to destroy both the enemy tribe and Vacce entirely. The three scenarios each depended on
what Mushea did - one for if it stayed neutral, one for if it joined Avalonia against Vacce, and one if it allied against Vacce. Avalonia's built up force which had only grown since the Second Wolo War had become strong enough to rival all three of the nations combined.
Had the Avalonian-Vacce War happened, and Avalonia won, it would've been a safe guarantee that Avalonia would go on to win Kingdoms S1. However, the war was only declared. By the time Avalonia reached the swampland, the game had ended.
Chapter 6 -

End of a Season

SenorConejo had his own periods of inactivity, but never had they been a big deal. Sometime in April 2018, he'd go inactive for an entire week. During this period, players had gone into a panic on
Senor potentially quitting the server. In response, thecoolkid26 made Lands of Tckia, a game that ultimately turned out to be successful. Lands of Tckia was a direct improvement on Kingdoms S1, and allowed SenorConejo to learn some valuable lessons.
Upon seeing how Kingdoms was flawed, SenorConejo would go on to end Kingdoms S1 in May, and release Kingdoms S2 sometime in June 2018.

The abrupt end was uncalled for, but perhaps it was for the better. It would've been months until
Kingdoms S1 would see a final victor, and it would be too slow to improve upon itself. RP history would've gone much slower had games waited to end instead of stopping a season to improve it.

So, that was the end of it. Lasting for at least half a year, Kingdoms S1
may be the longest actively ran RP game in history. During its gameplay, Kingdoms S1 saw little to no advancement of RPs. It used to be, for a time, the only RP that was on DF. Then, UK_Countryball and UltraCraftGames, two future Warlords players, had learnt of Kingdoms and
began making their own games. By the time S1 had ended and Lands of Tckia had introduced the game to more people than before, that is when S1's effects could be truly seen.
