Kingdoms (S.1) Part 3 by: thecoolkid26 Disclaimer: Read all previous parts before reading this one, as this is simply the legacy book and does not go over any events within the game itself. Table of Contents Aftermath.............................3 Ultimate Legacy...............6 Warlords............................13 Conclusion........................17 Chapter 7 - Aftermath (Note: Although they began before, I'll talk about UK_Countryball and UltraCraftGames later) Lands of Tckia was the very first reason as to why Kingdoms is so important - It would be the main catalyst for what became the Early Boom, a sudden minor spike in games that saw PL_ADI's kingdoms-inspired game (which was his first) and also the Proto-Afterlife games that eventually led to Afterlife being made. The subsequent Afterlife boom saw the creation of one of the three fundamental RP Genres, and the Warlords Afterlife Boom saw the genre dominate Warlords for a period of time. All of this can be traced back to Kingdoms S1. Chapter 8 - Ultimate Legacy The largest direct impact Kingdoms S1 had on RPs was the breaking of the Early Dark Ages. Players that otherwise wouldn't have made their games did so because of Kingdoms. UK_Countryball and UltraCraftGames, for example, both launched a series of obscure DF RPs that, when they were introduced to Warlords, transformed and inspired some of the highest quality games on the server. Works such as Galactica, the -hyria series both directly came as a result of these games. Others, such as CD and Masked saw inspiration from the works being made here. The advent of medieval fantasy in Phyria (one of the early games UK_Countryball had made) shined in the creation of Bloxhead7's Knoria, and the contribution to magic that the concept games UK and Ultra both made in DF has had is massive. Bloxhead7, upon returning from his hiatus, developed and released Echokia to the public. This game was the origin of the Loria genre, another one of the three fundamental RP Genres. Belloria, which came after Echokia, started the largest Boom in DF RP history, and the Loria genre remains the dominant form of games in Warlords to this day. Bloxhead7 would most likely have ditched the RP concept had Senor not revived it with Kingdoms, giving the game a possible claim to indirectly influencing the Loria genre. Finally, Kingdoms S1 obviously inspired Kingdoms S2, and although Developmental Games remain the least played of the 3 fundamental genres, Kingdoms S2 would be its main influencer and to this day has seen much of its advancements thanks to S2. In essence, Kingdoms S1 could be credited with bringing all 3 genres where they are now, whether directly or indirectly. Chapter 9 - Warlords Kingdoms S1 is also credited for unifying the future players of Warlords, and bringing them close enough together to form their own community, an important step in what ultimately became the server we are now playing on. PL_ADI, UK_Countryball, and UltraCraftGames would not have ever been in the history of RPs at all had it not been for Kingdoms S1. They were all introduced to the concept through this game. Bloxhead7, thecoolkid26, dylan34481, and SenorConejo each would've most likely gone their separate ways, with the Library being the only thing still keeping them in communication. Of course, Kingdoms' indirect influence on Echokia's making also means that Fuhrerreich and Warlords would not even be a concept in the first place. Simply put, there would be no Warlords without Kingdoms. Chapter 10 - Conclusion What became only an idea in the mind of a player that played RP Wars 1 became reality in a game that saw serious improvement to the RP genre. The innovations made by the game were small, but propelled it to have a successful season and keep many of the now active players of RPs into the concept. This game would improve upon the developmental game concept, and indirectly cause the existence of the other two fundamental genres of RPs. Simply put, this game - Kingdoms - is what truly started putting RPs on the right track to form this grand history. It recruited players, inspired many, propelled entire genres, and brought a certain amount of people together to create the server that holds RPs alive. So, as a result, I'd say that Kingdoms S1 holds a very serious claim to the title of Most Influential RP, as, unlike RP Wars, truly began the history of Roleplay games.
